I Don't Have Time for Your "Strategy" (And Neither Do You)

Most consultants get paid to talk. Operators get paid to close. If we aren't moving the needle in the first five minutes, we shouldn't be having the conversation.

Most consultants get paid to talk. They sell hours, they sell strategy decks, they sell the feeling of progress.

Operators get paid to close.

We don't have the luxury of debating theory. We have payroll to meet, inventory to manage, and fires to put out. In my world, time is the only asset you can't buy back. If we aren't moving the needle in the first five minutes of a conversation, we shouldn't be having the conversation.

The Tire-Kicker Filter

I run my calls with a simple rule: get to the truth as fast as possible.

I was on a call recently with a shop owner who wanted to go twelve rounds on pricing. He wanted to haggle over monthly fees versus hardware costs. He wanted to "think about it."

I didn't give him a breakdown of the competitive landscape. I didn't offer to send him a white paper. I gave him the operational reality:

"If I get you one more tattoo a month, you cover your software cost."

That's the math. You either believe you can do one more tattoo with better tools, or you don't. If you don't, we're done here.

Some people think this is aggressive. They think sales requires relationship building and endless discovery chats. I think those are just fancy words for wasting time. If you're serious about your business, you don't want a friend. You want a solution.

Speed Is a Virtue

When another lead told me they were using Square, I didn't ask what they liked about it. I didn't ask for a feature comparison. I told them: "We're actually cheaper than Square." And I moved on.

Why? Because decision fatigue is real. As an operator, you're drowning in choices every day. You don't need someone to give you more options; you need someone to give you operational closure.

You need someone to say: This is the problem. This is the fix. Here is the card reader you need. Let's go.

The Velvet Rope

I've been accused of being short with people who aren't ready to buy. I wear it as a badge.

If you're looking for a therapist to walk you through your fear of technology, there are plenty of consultants who will bill you hourly to hold your hand. If you're ready to stop bleeding revenue and start building infrastructure, I'm the guy you call.

We don't sell advice. We sell operational closure.
